New year, new you…right? Well what if we told you that you didn’t need to reinvent yourself every year? The new year presents an opportunity for improvement, but that doesn’t mean you have to completely transform your life. Unplug Once a Month

One day a month, completely remove yourself from technology. Turn your phone off. Stay off your computer. Don’t watch TV. Instead, do something that requires no technology at all. You could go shopping at your favorite stores or take a hike in the woods. You could stay at home and do a puzzle or invite friends over for a board game night. Taking a break from electronics will give your mind a chance to recharge, and you’ll feel more focused for the days ahead.

Gather One Box of Donations

Donating items you no longer use is a great way to declutter your life and give back to the community. Instead of decluttering a whole room or closet in your home, just focus on filling one box with donations. This can be anything from clothing items to small appliances to kids toys and more. If you fill up more than one box, great! But if not, you’ve still accomplished something with this small goal.

Compliment One Person Each Week

One of the best ways to create a positive environment is to exude positivity yourself. Try to compliment at least one person each week. This might be a stranger standing in front of you at the checkout line or a coworker you pass every day. If you do not interact with people much, you could compliment your friends on social media or write a letter to an influential person in your life. As you seek out the positive qualities in others, you may discover those same qualities in yourself.

Create a Consistent Sleep Schedule

Sleep is vital to your mental health. This is when your brain recharges for the night, sorting through your memories from the day. In order to get the best sleep possible, you need a consistent sleep schedule. Try to go to bed and wake up around the same time each night. Create a routine for going to bed that helps your mind and body wind down for the night. Repeat this process, and you will wake up more energized and focused each morning.

Drink Four Bottles of Water Every Day

Drinking more water can do wonders for your life. Water keeps your body hydrated, and it flushes toxins from your system. You may have heard the recommendation of drinking 8 glasses of water a day, but that can sound rather intimidating. Focus on drinking 4 bottles of water instead. Drink one bottle with every meal, taking sips of water between each bite. Then incorporate the last bottle of water throughout the day. Keep the water by you as you work and relax. If it is persistently visible, you are more likely to drink it.
